This Cookie Policy explains how SettleMe Ltd. (“SettleMe”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and app. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. We keep our use of cookies deliberately small.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device to make it work, to remember your choices, and to understand how the site is used. Some cookies are essential for the service to function; others are optional. Similar technologies such as local storage can serve the same purposes, and we treat them the same way in this policy.
Categories of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary — required for the service to work, for example to authenticate you and keep your session secure. These cannot be switched off.
- Preferences — remember choices you make, such as whether you prefer the light or dark theme.
- Analytics — first-party only. We measure our own sign-up funnel using data stored on our own servers; we set no third-party analytics or advertising cookies.
Analytics & advertising
We use only first-party, privacy-preserving analytics stored on our own servers — no third-party trackers, no advertising cookies, and no cross-site profiling — and we do not sell your data.
Our no-login invoice tool can, only if you opt in, store a hashed signal about your device (never the raw details, and never personal data) purely to enforce a fair-use limit of one free invoice per month. You control this with the checkbox on the download screen; your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage (su_fairuse_consent), and you can turn it off at any time.
Cookies we set
The table below lists representative examples of the cookies SettleMe uses. Exact names may vary as we update the service.
| Cookie | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| authjs.session-token | Keeps you securely signed in to your workspace. | Strictly necessary | Session (up to 30 days) |
| authjs.csrf-token | Protects sign-in and forms against cross-site request forgery. | Strictly necessary | Session |
| authjs.callback-url | Returns you to the right page after signing in. | Strictly necessary | Session |
| su-theme | Remembers your light or dark appearance choice. | Preferences | 1 year |
| su_anon | Identifies your device so your no-login invoice drafts save and resume. Contains no personal data. | Strictly necessary | 1 year |
| su_fp | A hashed device signal, set only if you opt in, that enforces the free monthly invoice limit. No personal data. | Preferences | Up to 10 minutes |
| su_ref | Remembers where you arrived from (e.g. a link) so we can credit the right source if you sign up. | Preferences | 30 days |
Managing cookies
We set no third-party tracking cookies. The one optional signal we use — the fair-use device hash described above — stays off unless you opt in, and you can withdraw it at any time from the download screen. You can also control cookies through your browser — most let you block or delete them from the settings menu. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you from signing in and using the service. You can change your theme preference at any time from within the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. If we start using new categories of cookies, we will make that clear and obtain consent where required.
